Pride & (in)Visibility aims to put forward voices of LGBTIQ+ migrants and refugees at this year's Refugee Week Malta.
Starting the event, we will be screening the short film 'Among You'
Among You l The Film, is a collaboration between Benedict Endler & Luke Bugeja Gauci, transcending traditional documentaries boundaries to capture the raw essence of forced displacement. This artistic trinity allows us to explore something that statistics and news often fail to capture: the visceral, emotional reality of having to leave everything behind.
The short film will be followed by the launch of the documentary "The Distance We Call Home".
The documentary sheds light on the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ migrants in Malta, from refugees to third-country nationals. The film is shaped by the journalistic storytelling and direction of Mehk Chakraborty, and captured through the lens of Nina Musumeci and creative direction of bobb attard, featuring movement by Chakib Zidi under the artistic direction of Mohamed Ali Agrebi.
This documentary has been funded by Repubblika as part of the S-INFO project. The S-Info project is co-funded by the European Union.
Following the documentary, we will be having a panel discussion. More details on the panel discussion coming soon.
