I am a local singer-songwriter, having lived my whole life in different neighborhoods in the Greater New Orleans area, except for a couple of years in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Everything that I know about playing and writing music comes from my formative years playing in punk bands in dive bars in New Orleans. These days I am a solo acoustic performer, singing and playing guitar and harmonica, and I would cite my greatest influences for what I'm doing now as Townes Van Zandt, John Fahey, Snooks Eaglin, the Balfa Brothers, and Blind Willie Johnson. In my civilian life, I'm a public high school teacher/coach and father of four; I also end up spending a lot of time picking up extra jobs doing construction work and security shifts, and a I write a lot of music in my head when I'm doing these jobs or driving back and forth to and from these jobs. In my English classes, I emphasize the importance of folk culture and giving respect to the traditions of our ancestors, and I try to do some of that in my music as well. In addition to my original songs, I also play a repertoire of Louisiana French traditionals, New Orleans R&B, and other blues and folk classics
