In Musica Maestrale's farewell program, artistic director Hideki Yamaya will perform a concert featuring masterpieces for lute and guitar from 17th-century Italy. The focus will be on the 'toccata,' an improvisatory form that was developed in the early Baroque to highlight the expressive capabilities of plucked strings and keyboard instruments. Composers represented include Kapsberger, Piccinini, Corbetta, Bartolotti, and Roncalli.
