Chantelle Smith and Richard Wileman present an evening of wyrd songs and eerie stories over two sets.
Folk singer Chantelle Smith has always had a fascination and connection to landscape and the stories held within it. As well as singing traditional folk songs, with a heavy interest in ballads, she also writes her own songs that draw upon myth, legend, the natural world and a sense of place. In addition to her solo work and her duo with Richard, Chantelle also performs as one half of The Ivy Green with Jessie Thompson, and can occasionally be found donning medieval costume to perform as a duo with musician and Storyteller Clare Goodall at medieval events.
Richard Wileman's music often has gothic, surrealist or cosmic themes and is influenced by prog, experimental, classical, soundtracks, easy listening, library music, folk horror and art rock. He releases albums with his project Karda Estra (mainly instrumental) and under his own name (which includes songs). Richard also enjoys co-writing and this has led to several collaborations including albums with Kavus Torabi (Gong, The Utopia Strong, Cardiacs) and Matt Baber (Sanguine Hum) and live / recorded work with Amy Fry.
