Musical Manuscripts Old and New with Helen Hayman, Part 2

Part two of Helen's popular workshop.

Materials list:

• Usual calligraphy materials

• Photocopies/prints of 3 different manuscripts from 3 different periods of time - eg Medieval, Modern, 14/15/16/17/18/19/20th centuries, classic, pop, etc.
They can be religious or non-religious, in any language, with or without words. It's the music we are interested in.

• A brief note about each manuscript - where it came from, its date and why you chose it. Write it on the back of the relevant print. (No more than 25 words for each manuscript)

• A recording on your phone, 1 minute long, of a piece of music relating to, but not necessarily of, one of your chosen manuscripts.


Helen says:
"I hope we will have a lot of fun with this and learn something about the history of music and manuscripts. I will start us off with my choices which will be interesting since I know nothing at all about music!"
The workshop will take place in the Sturrock Room.

Workshop Fees:
Members – £10
Guests may attend two taster workshops at £10 each, then £20 thereafter.
