Ketton, Bats and Glow-worms

Meet at Ketton church at 9pm, and later move to the quarry. Join Jenny Harris and members of Leicestershire and Rutland Bat Group to see and hear pipistrelle bats, Daubenton’s bats at close quarters over the river and, it is hoped, Noctule bats. After dark, we shall search for Glow-worms in the old quarry grassland, to add to the Wildlife Trust’s records. The full visit will end at around 10.30pm. Booking is essential.

Bat walks are free for members and £3 for non members.
As with all evening events, even in the summer, the weather can be cool after sunset. Wear warm clothes and bring a torch. The walks may be over uneven/wet ground so please wear appropriate footwear. If the weather looks ‘iffy’ it is worth checking your emails before you set off in case of cancellation. If it is raining heavily or windy the event is unlikely to go ahead. Some bat detectors will be available but if you have your own, please bring it.
