The Ella Redkey Pool will be offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course in August 2025
Class Dates:
August 18th: 11am - 12pm
August 19th: 9am - 4:30pm
August 20th: 9am - 4:30pm
August 21st: 9am - 4:30pm
August 22nd: 9am - 4:30pm

To successfully complete the course participants must attend and participate in ALL classes and successfully pass a skills evaluation and written evaluation
*IMPORTANT* Participants will be in close contact with other Lifeguarding participants in order to learn and successfully demonstrate life-saving skills. Examples of close proximity activities include, but are not limited to: in-water rescues, CPR, AED, and first aid.
COST:
$100 (includes resuscitation mask, whistle, and American Red Cross Lifeguarding manual)
PREREQUISITES TO TAKE THE COURSE:
- Must be 15 years of age (by the end of training) or older
- Swim 150 yards, tread with head above the surface for 2 minutes using legs only (no hands), and swim 50 yards after treading. This sequence must be done in order and without breaks/stopping frequently. All swims must be done using front crawl (freestyle), breaststroke, or a combination of both.
- Complete a times event within 1 minute and 40 seconds without the use of goggles:
--Starting in the water, swim 20 yards then surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound brick.
--Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping your face at or near the surface.
--Exit water without the use of a ladder.
