Uncover local historic treasures with author, Melanie Holmes on June 28th! Check in at 11:30 AM at the Kankakee County Museum, special presentation begins at noon. Then head over to the Kankakee River State Park for:
2:00: Meet at visitor center. Patrons can walk around and see the exhibits and animals as you walk through and hear some of the animals' stories, including their rescue and rehabilitated turtles and the cats that were dumped in the park and now live in the visitor center!
2:20: Conservation talk. You will learn about about the three ecosystems in the park and discuss some of the threats and how they are being addressed.
2:40: Guided Hike through prairie restoration project. Minimum of 20 minutes, longer trail can be closer to 35 or 40 depending on questions or speed of walkers
