This lecture explores the rich history of the Marzen House Museum, a historical landmark that offers a glimpse into the early settlement and industrial development of Lovelock, Nevada. Originally built in the late 19th century by rancher Joseph Marzen, the house stands as a testament to the region’s agricultural and mining heritage. From its fabulous architecture to its current role in the community as stewards of regional history, the Marzen House has much to reveal to history lovers as well as those just passing through Lovelock. This presentation will highlight one of Pershing County’s gems, and finish with a pictorial tour of the beautiful landscape that is Pershing County. Jack Hursh is retired from the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology at UNR and is a current board member of the Marzen House Museum in Lovelock. He is an active photographer and is working to inspire the youth of Pershing County to explore Nevada and see the landscape through a creative lens! This lecture will be presented in person. Admission is $10 for adults, members and children ages 17 and under are free.
