Exceptional Dance Company presents "Origin." This inaugural showcase, marking the origin of the company’s self-produced events, is a culmination of our work throughout Boston this past year. Join us for an evening of ten new dance works-in-progress, including the premiere of excerpts from our evening-length piece, "The Things We Carry." Featuring choreography by Laporsha Dees, Lindsay Gibbons and Kaylee Mahan, each piece features bold visuals and dynamic movements, exploring themes of belonging, vulnerability, and resilience. "Origin," in its dual role as the company's first self-produced showcase and an exploration of movement's genesis, uses the theme of beginnings to explore how personal histories, cultural influences, and internal landscapes shape our physical expression, and how even the smallest gestures can create powerful ripples that reflect these themes.
