Level I officials enjoy a front-row view of championship games as Time Clock Operators (TCO). The TCO is responsible for operating the time clock on an assigned sheet. The operator must be thoroughly familiar with the equipment, as well as the rules governing the use of time clocks. Rules, procedures, and the manner in which the duties of Level I officials fit in the overall structure of officiating at a curling competition will be emphasized throughout training.
Certification Requirements
General:
• Current SafeSport certification
• Working knowledge of the USA Curling MAAPP
Coursework:
• World Curling Academy Rules Course
• USA Curling Level I officiating course
Practical Experience (must be completed within 2 years of course):
• Time Clock Operator for 6 draws at USA Curling events
o Non-USA Curling events require approval for credit
All practical experience must receive satisfactory reviews by the Chief Umpire of the event.
