Improvisation Short Course at St Mary's Music School

For the second year, St Mary's Music School will be host to a two day improvisation course led by violinist and saxophonist Hilary Michael.
For pupils aged between 10 and 18 who has at least 2 years' experience playing their instrument, this non-residential course will explore various musical styles from Baroque to contemporary, you will learn to experiment with melodic ideas using existing harmonic frameworks, try out different rhythmic patterns and grooves and have a go at solo improvisation as well as group improvisation in different instrument combinations.
