On Saturday, June 21st, 2025 on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, Dave Stephens will take on the Battling Ropes Guinness World Record to raise awareness and funds for the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Keep an eye out for more details - All are welcome to cheer Dave on!
"After decades of dedicated service as Board Chair, The Longest Day Fundraising Leader, and Advocate for the Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern Virginia — roles inspired by my father's journey with Alzheimer's Disease — I now feel a powerful calling to share my own story and embody a new face of Alzheimer's. Where once there was uncertainty, today there is hope.
I am determined to be the first survivor, showing that a brighter future is possible. I've walked from my home in Virginia Beach, VA to the Capitol steps in Washington DC to call on our elected officials to prioritize Alzheimer's and dementia research funding. I’ve achieved a Guinness World Record in my father's honor while participating in The Longest Day Campaign — and now I’m setting out to break it again, at 70 years old, all while living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). I want the world to see that hope exists, that a strong, supportive community is here, and that it's essential to embrace it."
