National Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Recognition Day was established in 1979 through proclamation signed by President Jimmy Carter. Since then, each subsequent president has issued an annual proclamation commemorating the third Friday in September as National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
On Sep 19, 2025, at 9 a.m., 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss is conducting their annual POW/MIA Day Ceremony at Memorial Circle honoring all service members captured or missing in action during their service to our great nation.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. For those who do not already have one, don't forget to pick up your Community Access Pass.
