Keynote: Diébédo Francis Kéré

Join internationally acclaimed Burkinabè architect and 2022 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate, Diébédo Francis Kéré, for his first-ever Australian keynote.

Kéré, is renowned for his ground-breaking design philosophy and sustainable construction methods. His passion for architecture stems from a personal commitment to his community and his belief in the transformative power of beauty. Kéré’s work, which blends cultural significance, environmental responsibility, and aesthetic beauty, has earned global recognition and continues to inspire architects and designers worldwide.

Kéré garnered critical praise from the beginning of his architectural practice when awarded the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture (2004) for his first ever building – a primary school he designed, raised the funds for and realised in collaboration with the residents of his native Gando, Burkina Faso.

In 2022 he became the first native African to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize; the world’s most prestigious award for architecture.

Kéré’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A with NGV Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, Design, and Architecture, Ewan McEoin.

This keynote is presented in partnership with the Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation, the Robin Boyd Foundation and the Futuna Chapel Trust (NZ).
