On Saturday, June 28th, 11:00 AM, local author Nicholas Checker will stage at the New London Public Library, a solo-performer presentation of his short play, NAMEAUG -- a dramatic reenactment of New London’s origins in the wake of the brutal Pequot War of 1637, where Colonial forces had devastated the previously dominant Native tribe and attempted to blot out its existence.
The play was originally performed on the main stage of the Garde Arts Center during the city’s 350th Anniversary some years ago. At the request of the Connecticut Storytellers and the History Chip organizations, Checker has adapted his play into a 20 minute, compact solo-performer piece. The event is free to attend and audience members are invited to remain afterwards for an open discussion on the subject matter.
For further information, contact Nicholas Checker (bmlja2NoZWNrZXIgfCBhb2wgISBjb20=) or the New London Public Library at (860-447-1411)
