On the Plantation Porch: Video and History

Join us for a lecture and discussion with artists and historical educators. Discover how history inspires Texas artists in different ways from paintings to digital videos. In our second lecture of the season, hear from Talib Abdullahi of Black History Bike Ride about their film "The Route to Emancipation" (2023). This film chronicles the group's bike ride through Texas from Austin to Galveston. They stopped along the way at historic locations across Texas including the Levi Jordan and Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Sites.
