On September 21, 2013, 10-year-old Christopher Allsup of Winterset was severely burned when a plastic gasoline container exploded. Tragically, he did not survive. In his memory, this event was created to raise awareness about the dangers of portable gas cans and the importance of using containers equipped with flame arrestors.
Exchange your old gas can for a new metal safety can while supplies last. Safety cans are fitted with flame arrestors to help prevent explosions caused by escaping vapors and accidental sparks.
Event Details:
• One exchange per vehicle
• Old gas cans accepted empty or full (no transferring of gas)
• New cans available first-come, first-served
• No cash value, non-transferable
