2025 Willcox Playa Fly-In

Come join us out on the Willcox Playa dry lake bed for a weekend of camping and flying! The Playa provides a unique flying opportunity with 8x10miles of completely flat terrain with absolutely no rotor-inducing obstacles. All forms of aviation are welcome but the event focuses mainly on powered paragliding and you can expect a large amount of ultralight air traffic in the mornings and evenings. There will be no CTAF as most ultralight pilots do not monitor aviation radio channels.
The Playa can be a harsh place with nothing to block the wind or provide shade and privacy. It can also get quite warm during the day and cold at night. Be sure to plan accordingly.
I will provide an update a few weeks before the gathering on the conditions of the playa surface which is usually dry and firm in the fall but could potentially still be moist or loose depending on how monsoon season plays out. In 2024 the surface was quite crumbly forcing us to camp closer to the edge.
