Using Authentic Phenomena to Engage Students in Evolution

A professional development hosted by the National Center for Science Education that will take place on June 20, 2025 in Parthenon Room 2 at The Classic Center (Address: 300 N Thomas St., Athens, GA 30601) from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Attendees will:
• Deepen their own understanding of biological classification, speciation, and conservation
• Learn culturally responsive strategies for addressing students’ misconceptions
• Identify key features of phenomenon-based storylines to support student-driven 3-dimensional learning
• Learn about NCSE’s Story Short format, flexible mini-storylines that address one or two academic standards and can be completed in as little as five hours of classroom time
• Leave with access to all of the free resources needed to implement an NCSE Story Short in the classroom
Participants will receive a $75 stipend. Attendees will be released for lunch on their own.
