The album is a heartfelt tribute to Wakefield’s rich heritage, featuring 18 tracks that bring to life the stories of its people, places, legends, and history. From the city’s industrial roots in mining and textiles to iconic cultural traditions like the Westgate Run, Liquorice Festival, Rhubarb Festival, and Heath Common Fair, each song paints a unique picture of the district. It also explores historic landmarks and events—like the rise of the Cathedral and Wakefield’s city status, the old market hall, ties to Robin Hood, the Battle of Wakefield, WW1 nurse Nellie Spindler, and even the origins of the nursery rhyme ‘Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.’ There’s also a rousing nod to Wakefield Trinity and their legendary teams of the 1960s.
