This is the south end of the Village of Schoharie, which features the early 18th century German Palatine settlement experience, early churches, 18th century architecture, and 19th century development of the village. Fountaintown is the English version of Brunnen Dorf (Spring Village). Highlights include Palatine settlement of Brunnen Dorf, 1743 Parsonage House, Rev. Peter N. Sommer, 1795 Lawyer's Tavern (now Lasell Hall), Johnson Raid of 1780, Tory uprising of 1777, 1796 Lutheran Church, Throop Drug Store, Parrot House, 1st Street Movies, Wood’s Hotel, Civil War Camp Vedder, Jail breaks, and much more. $10 adults, $5 children 9-17. Tour is approx. 1.5 mile loop and approx. 2 hrs. Tour meets at largest Spring St. Municipal parking lot, behind Lasell Hall (off Main St/Rte 30), across street from village pool in the Village of Schoharie.
