Join us at Newtongrange Community Garden for a unique, hands-on workshop with local artist Annie Lord. Gather around the fire pit and discover how to turn foraged plants into your very own charcoal. Annie will walk you through the process, sharing her expertise and tips for making rich, expressive art materials straight from nature.
Once your charcoal is ready, Annie will lead a series of drawing exercises designed to help you explore its creative possibilities. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned artist, you’ll leave with new skills, inspiration, and a packet of handmade charcoal to take home. This workshop is for adults (16+) and is suitable for all experience levels. If the weather is just a bit drizzly, we’ll carry on, but if it’s really pouring, we may need to reschedule.
