June 26: The Underground Railroad in Oakland County
Local historians have recently identified and documented more than 50 people connected with the Underground Railroad in our area, suggesting that Oakland County played an important role in Michigan's Underground Railroad network in the years before the Civil War. In this program, project director Leslie Pielack will discuss some of the abolitionists and freedom seekers whose stories are interwoven with Oakland County's history.
