(Registration is required for this program. Visit our online calendar on our website www.mslibrary.org - https://calendar.lancasterlibraries.org/event/container-ponds-110208 )
Go beyond a basic birdbath supplying water to wildlife! Increase and support biodiversity in your yard or on your deck/patio by adding a “pond in a pot” that you can enjoy for 3 seasons.
Learn about the steps—from container selection, plant choices, and overwintering—to create a habitat for bugs, birds, and small wildlife to find food and shelter in addition to water. Pollinators welcome! (No electricity or fish needed.)
Presenter Colleen Emmerling is a Penn State Extension Master Gardener in Lancaster County since 2021. A former estimator for commercial print, she enjoys gardening challenges in her current shade-dominant property. Her interest in hobby-gardening began with a part-time job in perennials at Funks Farm Market and fostered a desire to be a good steward of the land.
Penn State Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who have an interest and enthusiasm for gardening and are trained in a broad range of horticultural topics. In return, Master Gardeners use unbiased, research-based information to educate our communities on best practices in sustainable horticulture and environmental stewardship.
