About the Artist:
Imagine a parallel universe in which Lorde and Johnny Cash have a baby, and you’ve got a pretty good idea of Phil ’n the Blanks. Known for their pure harmonies and inventive melodies, Phil ’n the Blanks please audiences from Portland to Bar Harbor with their original songs and popular cover tunes.
Their influences— from folk to rock to blues to American pop, Tom Petty to One Republic—are as wide as their experience. Lead singer Phil knows how to write for his three-octave range, except when he takes a break from his chunky chop rhythm guitar to finesse a solo on lead guitar. Meanwhile Emily (who played in the Tufts Symphony Orchestra and has been singing onstage all her life) literally fills in the blanks with her tight and brilliant harmonies. Both trained in “serious” music, the grooving, heartfelt duo bring nothing but good times to the stage.
