$25*; Free for Members
Join photographic illustrator Walter Wick and Chief Curator Stephanie Haboush Plunkett for an illustrated talk about Wick’s art and the surprising connections between his photographic practice and the work of Norman Rockwell. Wick invites viewers to explore imaginary worlds that reference childhood and fairy tales, science and nature, the built environment, magic tricks and optical illusions. He builds his compositions by photographing detailed arrangements of found objects he sets up or fantastic dioramas that he crafts by hand. Our speakers will discuss the similarities and differences in each artist’s approach to photography and the use of the camera and props to create memorable illustrations.
NRM Shop will be open and Walter Wick will be available to sign books after the program.
Limited space: reservations recommended.
