When Sekelle Nathan’s son nudged her to trade her upcycled/up-styled, paper mache creations for “real” pottery, she responded “I love telling people this ancient-looking jug used to be a juice bottle! Or that what looks like an old-world grain jar once held animal crackers! It amazes them. I won’t get the same reactions if I start with a lump of clay.”

An emerging home décor artisan, Sekelle isn’t just crafting décor—she’s crafting stories. In addition to creating unique tabletop home art-cessories, she makes beautiful moss wall art that draws inspiration from her childhood in Trinidad and Tobago.

Her décor invokes the aged, lived-in character of pottery and stoneware from early civilization while her moss art is infused with subtle patterns that invite the viewer to see an image while still maintaining the abstraction characteristic of moss art.

Sekelle lives in Chapin with her husband David and has 3 sons.
