Lammas : Gathering

Lammas is considered the first of the three harvests, followed by Mabon (aka the Autumnal Equinox) and Samhain.

The natural world is abundant and thriving around us, corn and wheat fields are ripening and golden getting ready for reaping.

Also known as Lughnasadh (pronounced Loonasa), in Celtic times this was a celebration of the great Sun God Lugh. It was a time of giving thanks to the Sun God for the harvest and giving offerings of bread, corn and wheat to him.

Lammas offers a time of personal reflection and our own personal harvest of our actions and deeds, events and experiences throughout this year thus far.

As with all my Wheel of the Year ceremonies we will begin by cleansing the space and ourselves, we make space for silence, for reflection and time to journal on where we’re at at this turn of the Wheel.

Primarily Lammas is a time of thanksgiving, when we can acknowledge and appreciate all we have in our lives. In honour of this we will come together in co-creating a despacho ceremony to offer thanks and show gratitude to the earth for her life giving gifts. Traditional despachos can be complex and intricate ceremonies, ours will be simple and universally applicable as we find things in nature and speak from the heart what we are grateful for as we prepare an offering back to the Earth.

With gratitude resonating within, we will sink into the frequencies of a sound bath to embody the honouring of this time.

β€œIf the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.”
