πΆοΈπ³ 3 Days - Hampaya Diet
Led by Dona Txima & the Keneya Xarabu Collective
19β21 August | Limited to 23 participants
Hampaya is a Huni Kuin ritual practice/diet for anyone who wants to open their voice. It also supports us in the way we communicate and helps us truly find our own voice, so we can stand in our power.
πΏ What is a diet?
A diet is when you dedicate time with a specific plant to learn from it and deepen your understanding of the wisdom it brings into your life.
π₯ How is it done?
Malagueta pepper is applied with a feather or the beak of the Txana bird (in Portuguese: japim or xexΓ©u). This bird is known for its ability to imitate the songs of various forest animals and birds, which is why Huni Kuin singers are also called Txana.
In the Hampaya ritual, Dona Txima applies the pepper to the tongue using the Txanaβs feather or beak. During the application, she says a prayer, calling in the strength of many singing birds. After the ritual, the person "becomes a bird", receiving the spirit of a small Txana that accompanies them and must be "fed" through songs in order to grow and bring knowledge.
After this "baptism", it is important to follow a strict diet β no salt, sugar, or processed foods. Only natural, βbird-likeβ food should be consumed, and we must sing every day of the diet.
During this retreat, we will deepen our understanding of the wisdom this master plant brings.
πΊ About our guide β Dona Txima
