Kids On the Canals- Science Part 1!

Kids On the Canals are FREE monthly excursions that invite kids and their families to explore Hudson Crossing Park through science, history, and nature-based adventures. Each month features a new theme—from building model locks and crafting balloon-powered boats to exploring the canal’s past and spotting wildlife along the trail.
In June, the first installment of the science-based excursion will take the kids on a short hike to Lock C5 to learn firsthand how it works. They will explore the engineering principles behind the lock and learn how the lock enables boats to navigate changes in elevation. Back at the pavilion, the participants will split into family teams to design and build a functional lock model.
-Best suited for ages 6-12
-Group size is limited to 16, Children must be accompanied by an adult (not included in the group size)
-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Go to https://www.hudsoncrossingpark.org/kids-on-the-canals to register.
*This excursion is free thanks to generous funding from the NY State Canal Corporations On the Canals program.*
