We are a trail running club specifically for adventurous beginners to feel safe and free in exploring wonderful trails together. We are an open, inclusive and social community valuing connection over clock-watching and supporting each other over smashing times. We're about breaking down barriers of entry and focus on creating a space for people to explore the outdoors and have fun.
You may or may not already run? Or you may be hiking trails and want to try moving a little quicker? You might like the idea of trail running but don't have the knowledge of where to go or how to get started? You may just want to join a group of like-minded individuals who are about supporting one another and enjoy getting up on the hills together. Whatever your reason, you are absolutely welcome to join The Good Footers on our weekly trail runs professionally guided and facilitated by Good Footing CIC.
Trail run routes - EVERY WEDNESDAY at 6PM (6:15 Depart) We have designed five different routes across each week in April starting at approx. 3.5k moving up to just over 5k in length. They all vary in terrain and ascent. The pace will be easy with some walking in places and plenty of rests where needed. One thing that is guaranteed is the stunning scenery that you will experience running in the Holme Valleys.
WEEK 1 - Digley (3.8k) Easy - Meet at Main Digley Carpark
WEEK 2 - Elbow End (4.2k) Easy - Meet at junction of Ramsden Rd. & Cartworth Moor Rd.
WEEK 3 - Hades Forest (3.8k) Moderate - Meet at top gate of Hades Forest on Linshaws Rd.
WEEK 4 - The Catch (5.5k) Easy - Meet at Greens End Rd. Meltham (behind the church)
WEEK 5 - Wolfstones (5.6k) Moderate - Meet outside Peak Footwear, Holmfirth
Booking - tiered donations We offer three different tiers of donations: Accessible - £5 Standard - £8 Supporter - £10 You can book the full series of five trail runs or individually if you wish. There is no pressure to commit to every week! Although they are designed to build up our stamina, skill and strength over the weeks.
Good Footing relies on donations to continue to deliver our community, wellbeing and cultural experiences. We are grateful for any donations made via our Eventbrite page or in cash on the day. Please book a place so we know who is turning up and can manage the day better with our co-hosts. Thank you.
KIT-LIST Please make sure you pack the following and wear appropriate clothing for each trail run: Grippy running trainers (ideally trail running trainers) Enough layers (check the weather and think when we stop) Good hydration Head-torches Perks! We are so excited and thankful that Peak Footwear are kindly offering a discount in their shop to The Good Footers Trail Running Club. Just make sure you mention that you are a member and they will sort all your trail running needs for cheaper!
Post run social
Whilst it's not a pre-requisite, we can have a post-run meet in nearby pubs or a warm drink and cake back at the rendezvous, weather permitting.
