The New Leaves, like so many contemporary music projects, emerged from the post-pandemic wilderness. The New Leaves consists of four childhood friends from Warrenpoint County Down, Northern Ireland – who blend lush, three-part harmonies, nature inspired lyrics and modern folk aesthetics. The four members came together to breathe life into an expanding songbook written by McKay, who attempts to capture the natural beauty, history, and mythology of homelife beneath the Mourne Mountains and the beautiful townlands that surround Carlingford Lough.
The band's debut album 'A Sketch of Home' was released on Corn Crake Records in June 2024 - reaching #10 in Scottish Album Charts and #5 in Indie Album Charts. Several singles have garnered radio play on RTE Radio 1, BBC Ulster, BBC Scotland, BBC London, Amazing Radio, Nova and 98FM.
Praise for The New Leaves:
“Gorgeous harmonies… beautiful songwriting”
Lynette Fay, Folk Club, BBC Radio Ulster

Anne Marie McAleese, BBC Radio Ulster
