Taajwar Hakeem Latimore, known professionally as Thouxanbanfauni, is an American rapper born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. A key figure in the 2010s SoundCloud hip-hop wave, Fauni first began releasing music in the early 2010s under various aliases before officially adopting the name Thouxanbanfauni. In a 2018 interview with XXL, he shared the unusual origin of his name, recounting a near-overdose experience that shaped his artistic identity. His breakout came in 2015 with the single “Rihanna Wrist” and the collaborative mixtape For Christ Sake with UnoTheActivist, followed by a steady stream of mixtapes and projects, including Heavy Weight Champ, The Exfiles, and the long-awaited Requiem in 2018. Throughout 2019 and 2020, Fauni continued to build momentum with collaborations, solo projects, and EPs such as SEEIN COLORS and October 34th, while also squashing his beef with Lil Yachty through their joint track “REUNION.” His output remained consistent with notable releases like CLAIRVOYANCE and FALL in 2020. In 2021, he expanded his sound further with Time of My Life, the TTB group project STREETS CHOSE ME, and the EP FOREVER FIGUEROA, solidifying his reputation as a prolific and influential figure in underground hip-hop.
