CSD Brass
Conductor: Christopher Lawrence
Soloists: Andy Kershaw (tuba), Paul Garner (flugel horn), Millie Lihoreau (French horn)

In this very special concert, CSD Brass celebrates the music of composer Rodney Newton on the occasion of his 80th birthday, joined by three soloists: Andy Kershaw (tuba), Paul Garner (flugel horn) and Millie Lihoreau (French horn).

CSD Brass will give the world premiere of a new five-movement suite by Rodney Newton, ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, written especially for the occasion, alongside another work composed for CSD, ‘Cambridge’. The programme includes two of Rodney Newton’s most popular works, his ‘Capriccio’ for tuba and ‘Dimitri’ for flugel horn, together with a new arrangement of his ‘Tripartita’ for French horn.

The grand finale of the concert is Rodney Newton’s ‘Acid Drops’, a medley of three of his ‘Acid Brass’ tracks arranged for the Turner-Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller, including the classic acid house number ‘What Time is Love?’ by KLF.

This summer concert has something for everyone, and is sure to have your feet tapping by the end!
