Build confidence in your unarmed self-defense skills with this introductory combatives courses. Learn simple, effective techniques to defend yourself efficiently against a variety of some of the most common types of unarmed assaults, including standing and ground techniques. The concepts taught in this course are based upon the principles of Gracie Jiu-jitsu, and utilize leverage based techniques & positional control. No prior training or special skills are required.
About the Instructor:
This course will be taught by Jon Plyler, the owner & head instructor for Acumen Tactical. Jon is a military veteran and former law enforcement officer & training, serving over 15 years with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the last 5 of which, he worked full-time at the CMPD training academy teaching both new recruits & in-service officers, specializing in defensive tactics & firearms training. Jon is currently a certified firearms instructor with the USCCA and the NRA, and is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He currently works full time teaching Jiu-jitsu at his academy in Denver, NC-Royce Gracie Academy of Lake Norman.
