Swing dancing first became popular in Australia in the 1930s-40s at landmark venues such as the Trocadero, but it went out of fashion as Rock and Roll took over as the most popular music style in the 1950s. Then 30 years ago Rob Bloom & Nicky Haslam brought Swing dancing back to Sydney with their workshop on 13th August 1995 at Woolloomoolloo PCYC* which led to the vibrant and thriving Swing dancing scene in Sydney today.
This event brings five of the Sydney Swing dancing schools together to celebrate this beautiful African American dance, and gives you to opportunity to meet the current scene and share our love of Swing together.
