With her sumptuous voice, melodic invention and serious bebop chops, Lucía Gutierrez Rebolloso was not only the first artist from Mexico to enter the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2022 but at the tender age of 21, she won, launching a promising, unprecedented career. Performing under her first name, Lucía hails from Veracruz, where she started singing and dancing in her parents’ acclaimed son jarocho band, Son de Madera. Smitten with jazz, she earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from the Universidad Veracruzana. Already a veteran of leading festivals, Lucía continues to hone a beguiling artistic vision combining her love of jazz, various Latin American idioms and popular music
