Candle light tours of Temple Mine

Our special candle lit tours of Temple Mine are on the first Sunday of each month at 1pm. Your guide will take you around the mine and tell you the way the miner's worked and the minerals he was looking for. You will see the mine as t'owd* man did!
After the tour you can pan for minerals.
Meet at the Peak District Mining Museum.

There is a short but steep climb to the mine, once inside the mine you will be given a helmet as some parts of the roof are low (you will need to be able to bend over in places). There are 28 steps in the mine which you will go up and back down. This is a real mine so the floor can be wet even in summer - wear trainers rather than sandals please.
The usual tours with the electric lights on are at 11am & 2.10pm on the 3rd August and at 11am, 1pm & 2.10pm on other days.
*T'owd man is the local term for the lead miners.
