Parisian lute virtuoso Thomas Dunford makes centuries-old music resonate with a modern pulse. Dunford and his lute have shared the stage with musical greats like Bobby McFerrin and Anne-Sophie von Otter and at notable venues from his teen debut at La Comédie Française to Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2018, he founded the Jupiter Ensemble which quickly gained acclaim with their debut dedicated to Vivaldi. His early music program features masterpieces by John Dowland, J. S. Bach, Marin Marais, and well-known melodies by Erik Satie.

The Other Side is a combination of many musical styles, an exploration of all musical styles, going from classical to jazz and pop. This evening of music showcases original compositions of Thomas Dunford and Doug Balliett. They have been both influenced by Bach and classical composers, Miles Davies and the jazz world, the Beatles and the pop world of today. These songs have many references to these varied musical styles with plenty of improvisation, poetry and spontaneity. The themes of the Other Side are an exploration of the unseen parts of reality, love and the deep connection that brings us together through music.
