Sign Carving

This is an introduction to carving signs in wood with hand tools. You will learn the tools and techniques for incised and bas-relief carving, and the safety precautions to bear in mind. You will learn how to read wood grain and carve in harmony with it. In the process of creating your own custom sign we will cover lettering, logos/pictures, borders/edge profiles, and I can offer advice for painting/finishing your piece on your own. You will leave the class with the ability to choose a good set of tools and materials to pursue sign carving, or woodcarving in general.
