Bridges of Time: Where Tradition Meets Innovation

This exhibition explores the evolving dialogue between classical and contemporary architectural forms, a theme that resonates powerfully in Farina’s work. Her art captures the tension and harmony between tradition and innovation, where historical structures and modern interventions coexist and inform one another. Drawing from various perspectives of the same building, she constructs layered, composite images that reflect how architecture exists in our collective consciousness—fragmented, overlapping, yet intrinsically whole.

Farina Noorani is a resident artist at Westbury Arts Centre, where she has maintained a permanent studio since 2022. Working under the name ‘Beyond Images Studio’, she creates mixed media compositions that blend freehand sketches, photographs, and painting. Her practice is rooted in a deep engagement with architecture—not only as a visual subject but as an emotional and spatial experience that shapes our perception and memory.

Experience of an architectural space, is central to Farina’s artistic activity. Architecture, and its impact on our emotions and imaginations, motivates her artwork and her creative process. To her, working on an architectural subject provides a captivating energy, and however freely the watercolours flow and how dramatic the perspectives are, the presence of an underlying geometry and logic always seems to follow, binding them altogether as one. In her artwork, she aims to combine the properties of a painting and the spatial experiences of architecture as one composition and evoke what can be seen and experienced beyond the images.
