Operation Clean Stream

Since 1967, Open Space STL has organized Operation Clean Stream, one of the country’s most significant and longest-running river restoration projects. As Stream Team #5, we have been a leading force in watershed restoration and planning across the St. Louis region since 1965, working to preserve, protect, and enhance the Meramec, Missouri, and Mississippi Rivers and their supporting tributaries.
JOIN US FOR THE 58TH ANNUAL OPERATION CLEAN STREAM!
Mark your calendars for August 23, 2025, and be part of the legacy! Each year, thousands of volunteers come together to restore and rejuvenate our waterways by removing trash and debris from the Meramec River and its tributaries.
WHAT WE DO
Every August, volunteers tackle the damage caused by flooding, careless littering, and illegal dumping. Whether you prefer working from canoes and boats, along the shoreline, or in nearby parks and trails, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.
