It is October 1848. Frail, heartbroken, and in exile, Frรฉdรฉric Chopin arrives in Scotland at the invitation of Lady Jane Stirlingโhis devoted student and unrequited admirer. A year from death, in the shadow of failing health and emotional ruin, Chopin takes to the stage one last time. Not to dazzle concert halls, but to bare his soul.
Chopinโs Last Tour is a poignant and poetic solo performance told in the form of a personal letter. Enriched with live piano as Chopin reflects on his journey. From his beginnings as a child prodigy in Poland to the elegant salons of Paris. The audience is transported through a lifetime of passion, politics, heartbreak, and haunting beauty.
This is the story of a musical genius, a gentle, complex man. Shy, humorous, romantic, and deeply human. Through his music and memories, we explore his deep ties to his homeland, his turbulent love affair with George Sand, his delicate health, and the quiet strength that fuelled his art.
Each musical piece has been carefully selected to mirror a specific chapter of Chopinโs life. This gives the audience a visceral, emotional connection to the music and the man. This is theatre and concert, confession and tributeโall in one.
