Red, White & Blue Bicycle Decorating Contest in Oriskany

Join the Battle of Oriskany Historical Society for an old Oriskany tradition- the Red, White and Blue Bicycle Decorating Contest!
Originally part of village Memorial Day commemorations dating back to the 1960s, the bicycle decorating contest was a tried and true tradition up through the 1990s. The event has now returned to celebrate Independence Day at the Oriskany Farmers Market.
The contest will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. outside the Oriskany Museum in Trinkaus Park (420 Utica Street, Oriskany, NY).
Contestants should decorate their bicycles in the spirit of Independence Day utilizing the colors of the United States flag. Designs should be timeless rather than reflect current events.
Decorated bicycles must still be rideable with no safety hazards.
Decorating materials will be available from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Participants can also decorate at home ahead of time with their own materials.
Judging will begin at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
-Best in Show (ages 10+)
-Best in Show (under age 10)
-Runner Up (ages 10+)
-Runner Up (under age 10)
