Foundations Through Understanding
A focus on developing rider and equine understanding through rider equitation and equine asymmetry and confidence building. Identifying and improving equitation in our riders and why equitation is such a key part of our job as a rider. It is much more than just a show class! Equitation affects your security and balance on the horse as well as greatly impacts how that horse is able to move freely underneath you. Contrary to popular belief, basic equitation is the same regardless of what discipline and sport you ride in! This part of the clinic will be done both on and off the horse as we dive into our bodies and understanding where we have limitations and how to build on those with and without our horses.
Equine asymmetry (physical and cognitive) plays a massive role in where each horse struggles in performance, it is a key to soundness and longevity and to having no a confident and willing horse. Horses with physical limitations present with confidence issues, behaviour issues and performance limitations. Letβs work to identify what those limitations are in your horses and start to develop a training plan to build a stronger, straighter horse that can then perform with more confidence strength and willingness. We will have a short learning session on the ground making note of some important things to understand about our horses followed by focusing under saddle on each specific horse/rider pair.
Applying this knowledge to our everyday riding pursuits. We will use obstacles, patterns and dressage movements to apply our knowledge and find the specific areas we can help our horses and ourselves to improve performance regardless of what you plan on doing down the road with your horse.
Open to all breeds, ages, disciplines and experience levels!
