Beetopia is a family run business of proud pollinator ambassadors. We promote awareness about our NgΔro huruhuru (native bees) and their habitat . We recently planted a native forest in order for children & adults people to learn more about our NZ flora and thus savour more native honey varietals.
After Greenswap for those interested there will be a short tour of the forest to see the results of our backbreaking planting.....plus a honey tasting and viewing of our little honey shed. Plenty of honey, pure beeswax candles and gift ideas available for purchase. EFPOS and cash accepted, the latter preferred π
Please car pool if possible- about 12 cars can park on site but not on lawns as it's too wet
Wear gum boots and rain gear for the tour .
No animals allowed
Children to be accompanied please.
Established in 2008, Greenswap in Matakana draws together of group of like-minded enthusiastic, passionate people who share an interest in produce, food, a wholesome style of living, and who are willing to share information for a better more sustainable environment. Attendees come from all over the region and we welcome new greenswappers.
The group gather at the Matakana Wharf every Friday morning during summer, twice a month in autumn and spring. On quite a regular basis we also visit some outstanding properties where there are so many take home messages. Learning never stops!
The variety of items brought and swapped at Greenswap demonstrates the community's interest in homegrown and homemade goods. In addition to this the group share resources and knowledge for cultivation and practical gardening know-how.
The vibrant and diverse nature of Greenswap means the swap is not just limited to the amazing array of fruit, vegetables, homemade baking and preserves. A broader interest beyond edibles includes seaweed and comfy tonic, worm tea, vegetable and flower seedlings, candles, finger limes, herbal remedies, banana pups, flowers and plants, kombucha, compost for the garden, herbs like garlic chives, sorrel, rosemary, mint and basil to name just a few.
