Annual Inspection of the Gibson Tomb

The tradition of the Gibson Tomb inspection in Sutton goes back to the 18th century. It's Sutton's oldest living tradition.

In exchange for a bequest, the churchwardens were tasked with an annual inspection of the Gibson Mausoleum on August 12th. This inspection ensured the tomb's upkeep and identified any repairs needed.
