Leonidas Kavakos is quick to point out that most of the violin concertos you hear today were composed long after violin maker Antonio Stradivari died. For him, it proves that Stradivari had a remarkable ability to understand the potential of a well-crafted instrument. That stands front and center when Kavakos plays Mozart on his prized “Willemotte” Stradivarius of 1734.
