Walk in the Footsteps of Archibald Knox – Castletown, Scarlett Point & Balladoole

Along the way, you’ll gain unique insights into his life and legacy, with plenty of time to pause, take in breathtaking views, and connect deeply with the surroundings much as he did.

This walk is the perfect way to experience the views of the sea and big skies that captivated Knox. The Island’s early mysterious history and Celtic/Viking origins are evident at Balladoole, a rich archaeological site with not only a Keeil, but a Viking ship burial and an even more ancient burial ground. The route includes sections of the Raad ny Foillan (“Way of the Gull”) and a country lane to Balladoole.
